The painting from where it all began

Dear Sketchbooker,
The business I run today started with just one painting. Like so many of the most important things in life, it dropped into my lap at a time when I was looking the other way; in this case working to become a fashion designer.

It was a baptismal gift I made for the christening of my niece, who was born in the wilderness of the Congo – and who I knew would share a like-minded love of African wildlife. Today, it still remains one of the pieces I am most proud of. Friends saw the present and asked if I could make versions for their children. Then a friend asked if I could create her wedding invitation. I kept saying yes to projects and pretty soon I had a waiting list and a fully operating business.

My projects often start with a chat. I’ll speak with a client about what they love and care about, which soon become the symbols and imagery expressedin my work. My art, in the end, is a way of showing someone their own world from a different perspective, one that brings new details to the foreand a smile to their faces when they see just how rich, and how wonderful, their lives really are.

I’m hoping to be able to bring more of my own fantastical worlds into your houses through my website and the boutique. I am ready to launch an array of fun, cheeky designs and products. The right details combined in a dream-like way but also staying thrillingly real to you.

Stay colourful,
xx Clementina
